Happy Birthday

Wow..there are a lot of birthdays this week-Robyn from My Pink Stamper, her friend Karlee and today is also my birthday! I certainly have some good company. Happy birthday to all my January birthday friends!

I found the quote on my card above, in my stash of old papers and decided to design a card with it in mind. It says:
"You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream."
I think those are very good words to live by.

Card Recipie:
  • Card is Archiver's fuschia 5x7
  • Cup is cut from Gypsy Wanderings-Anna Griffin paper
  • DCVW mat stack tan paper embossed with a Cuttlebug folder-Pagoda cherry blossom pattern-I cut a hole in the paper to let the pink card show through the coffee cup
  • Happy birthday is from Geroge and Basic Shapes
  • "Ribbon" is black cardstock with white gel pen stitching

I entered the card in two challenges:

1) My Pink Stamper: Make Something Yummy-I love a good cup of coffee, so I chose a cute coffee cup with a heart from Cricut Gypsy Wanderings as my favorite yummy treat!

2) FCCB-#44 Neglected Cartridge-Use a Cricut Cartridge you haven't used in a long time. I seem to have quite a few that fit the category so it wasn't too hard to find one to use. I think I need to do that more often.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Go Pack Go!

Since I am from Wisconsin I have to say, "Yay Packers!!!"
There was a lot excitment around my house yesterday!

My son, who is 6, has been bugging me to put something that he has made on my blog. (I have posted a couple of my daughters cards in the past.) He loves birds, and has quite a flock in his room, and he loves the Packers. All during the game yesterday he worked on making his favorite birds team jerseys.
Here he is with his whole "team".

He made home and away jerseys.
Here is an owl in the throwback jersey.

I have seen a couple of challenges for me to work on this week, so I will be getting back to scrapping/card posts soon! Until then, thanks for following me and for sharing all your kind comments!

Sweet Shop Challenge

Today I tried my first challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.

The challange is called Sweet Shop: Incorporate something sweet on your project (i.e. ice cream, candy, cake etc.) There needs to be an image on your project that has been cut with the cricut machine.

Recipie for this card:
  • Cricut Cartidge Sweet Treats for the cupcake
  • Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo for the shaped backgrounds
I used my Gypsy to line it all up. The card is 6x6 overall.
  • Paper is mostly scraps, pink and red are Wausau Paper cardstock
  • Inking is Distrees Ink in Worn Lipstick
  • Gelly Roll pen in White
  • Diamond Stickles on frosting area
  • Stamp is from Paper Shapers
The card is resting on my Gyspy stand, made for me by my husband, out of maple. It's angled back a little so it makes it much easier to work on the Gypsy screen when it's plugged in to the Cricut. He is so sweet! :)

Disney Fun

Here we are at Disney World...oh how miss 75 degrees and sunshine...

We had a great time!  I have to get some pictures printed out now to make my first Disney album.

I got the album itself, and some other supplies, at Archivers on my way to the airport before we left!! The Disney 2011 kit I got at the store in Disney World. I am so excited to get started. I ordered the Cricut Disney alphabet cartridge online, and it should be arriving soon.

I'll post some of my layouts as I get them done.

As they say at Disney...."Have a magical day!"

Valentines :)

I love to make Valentines! I was inspired by some samples I saw in a flyer from Archivers (I love that store).
The colors don't seem to look as nice in the picture, but I like how it turned out.

I am also linking to the My Pink Stamper's Blog Hop challenge-what a great hop to follow. All the projects are awesome!

To string the pennants I punched holes with a tiny hole punch meant for brads-it worked great! The string is taped on the back of the craft paper and the tied buttons were added separately.

Recipe for this card:
  • Red 5x7 card
  • The craft paper I use comes from between foam paint brushes that I order in bulk-it's probably not acid-free but it works great for cards
  • I distressed the edges with a Heidi Swap Edge Distresser tool
  • The papers are all scraps I had in my stash
  • The heart is a small EK Success punch
  • Red twine is from Jillibean Soup
  • Red buttons...not sure
  • The stamp is from Anna Griffin(HSN)-clear embossed over Versafine black
  • All inked with Ranger Distress Ink-Vintage Photo
  • Pennants and buttons are pop-dotted
It's been so long since I've crafted anything...it was very nice to get my hands dirty again!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Christmas Haul

Thought I would share a picture of the wonderful Christmas gifts from this year. I received a Cricut Expression from my DH-in fabulous raspberry color, a Your Story Photo-I am very excited to try out with some Disney photos, beautiful paper, stamps, Cuttlebug folders and cartridge from my sister, and a whole set of Martha Stewart glitter glue-so fun!

I still haven't tried out my new Cricut, but it is calling my name....can you hear it?

Have a great evening. It is snowing so beautifully tonight...it looked like a snow globe today.

Blogger Award

Thank you to Pat at Pat's Scraps for the Blog Award-what a nice surprise! I am so thankful for all the wonderful crafters I have met through blogging. What a fun experience it has been so far and thank you again to Pat for thinking of me when you were picking your 'awardees'.

Now, the rules are:
State 3 things that make me different from everyone else,
and nominate 5 other bloggers to receive the "My Blog has Attitude Award."

Hmm, my three 'unique' things would be:

1... I have one step-child and 2 of my own children...each is 7 years apart...my youngest will be 7 in March(I'm getting a little nervous) :)
2...My specialty in the kitchen is Chinese Pot Stickers and Japanese Fried Rice (a little odd since I'm 1/2 Norwiegian and 1/2 Czechoslovakian)
and 3...My wedding gift from my Mom was a pottery Kachina doll with a chicken head (I thought it was cool but I think that my new husband was questioning his choice in Mother-in-Laws)

I would like to nominate:

(she's got a fabulous Coconut Pie recipe on her blog too!)
Nancy at BlueroomINK - very talented!
Angel at Owlbeescrapin -has some fabulous challenge entries
Kellee at Scrappin Nana -beautiful cards
House Built of Cards Some great ideas to see here

Have a wonderful evening. Enjoy visiting these great blogs!
